From Gloria Silk’s Desk
Welcome fellow readers and writers of Romance and Romantic Fiction.
I fell in love with writing and reading when I was eleven years old, when my family and I settled down in London, England. A story-teller in the making, who was – and still is, I suppose – a drama queen.

When I was fourteen I convinced my friend, Angie, (who was a whole year older than me) that I actually had a boyfriend; a young man named Eddie with a red sports car (in those days I didn’t know enough about names, makes or brands of cars to say if it was a Lamborghini, a Ferrari or a Ford Fiesta). I know it wasn’t a nice thing to do, but I truly discovered my calling. I was born to tell high tales which I hoped one day would leave readers riveted in their seats, eyes wide with anticipation, waiting for the next adventure in true love. Here was a chance for me to live in an escapist world and my ‘little white lies’ wouldn’t even get me into trouble .
In my teens I wrote short stories, poems and filled many exercise books with novels I shared with no one for many years. But I always believed in myself and that one day my novels would get published, so I can share them with the world.
“You can do anything you put your mind to.” My Mum’s words stuck with me, always. It was a great thing I didn’t aspire to be a rocket scientist or an astronaut, because if I had, I would have succeeded, probably….
My sense of fun and tenacity have taken me through many hardships as well as wonderful experiences, like traveling to many exotic and memorable places in the world.
I love to read mainstream, contemporary, historical and romantic fiction. Some of my favorite authors are: Susan Elizabeth Phillips, Jenny Crusie, Janet Evanovich, Kate Freiman, Nora Roberts, Tammy Hoag, Nickolas Sparks, Molly O’Keefe, Brenda Hammond, Jo Bevarly, Mary Balogh, Eloisa James…. OK, I can go on and on…. there are just too many to mention here. I read a lot and I love books, trust me!
Want proof? Take a look at my home library – this is in addition to the many how-to books stacked in my home office book cases. (I designed this myself, as I did most of my home. But that’s for another post.)
I love humor and sensual intensity in love stories, and my obsession has long ago transferred from sexy shoes to books – I’m a self-confessed biblioholic – but please keep it under wraps.
Having spent many of my working years running design and art related businesses and, after that, coaching and ghostwriting non-fiction under my other name, I am now finally doing what I love best in the whole world; creating love stories with characters and heroes I adore. I’m constantly in love with one hunky, gorgeous hero and then another, and my husband doesn’t mind one bit!
I write sensuous love stories filled with intercultural passion with every-day heroines and heroes, against a backdrop of European, Mediterranean and other exotic places. My stories’ themes are always about family and love surviving against intercultural friction and fervent opposition.
What’s more important than love, strong family and friendship bonds?
Great Reading and Great Inspirations to you.
